I was heavily inspired by Casey Baugh at the time and when Liam approached me about a black and white illustration I couldn't help but draw from Baugh's amazing style.
I Am Ned #1 Cover
Cover art for I Am Ned #1, my first full-length comic. The art was designed for use on A3 and A1 poster sizes while also able to be cropped to US standard comic dimensions. My most ambitious illustration to date!
This is a piece I created to push myself a little further. I really wanted to draw Adam Driver's face without using a photo reference as a template but rather just to get his key features down. It was a lot of fun putting this together.
Bart Graft Album Cover
Poster and album artwork for a Harold Faltermeyer cover album. The concept was mine and was designed to be adjustable for a square and portrait format. I provided the client with two different colour options, but ultimately the black was used as the final album artwork.
Definitely the most elements of anything I'd done in the style to date. Very satisfying to see it come together.
In order to better promote my illustration ability to musicians in the synthwave scene I designed a piece around my username 80sRevenge. I'm a huge fan of new wave synth music too, so it was also pretty fun to do a self-portrait in this style.
The Man They Call Ned
Cover art for a short comic I did sequentials for. This is a mix of digital and traditional art; the lines were all done on paper and colours put together digitally.
I don't usually use such heavy blacks with my coloured illustrations but found it really worked for this piece. I really like using dual-lighting and it came together well here.
Ashcan Issue #3 Cover Art
This is an older piece that I put a lot of time into a few years ago. I think it's still very strong, despite the fact that it's quite a bit older than my similar works.
The Monkey and characters in the glass shards are all from different stories a comic anthology, which this was the cover for.
They're All That
A wedding gift commission from a bride to her groom. The brief was to recreate the movie poster for the movie "She's All That".
Dave & Tash Wedding Commission
A commission for a friend to give to a bride and groom as a wedding gift. Being good friends with the couple and having a lot of creating freedom, I was able to kind of go nuts and do whatever I wanted. They were really happy with it and I really enjoyed doing portraiture of more interesting facial expressions - it gives the subjects so much more character!
Bad Moon Rising
A piece of concept/promotional art for a film pitch. This was a big undertaking at the time, when I was relatively new to exploring colour. I think there's a lot of exciting bits and pieces throughout and the composition feels solid, too.
